Service Projects at Our Lady of Lourdes

During the 2024–2025 school year, we made a promise to ourselves—to do better when it comes to teaching service.

At Our Lady of Lourdes, we believe service should mean more than just bringing in a can of food or a dollar bill to earn a reward. As a Catholic school, we are called to something deeper. That’s why we committed to educating before doing.

Before every service project, we first teach our students the “why” before the “what.”
We want them to know:

  • Who they’re helping
  • What those people truly need
  • How their actions can make a real difference

This approach has made a powerful impact. Our students are more thoughtful, more engaged, and more inspired. They’re not just donating—they’re connecting. They understand the need, and they feel a sense of responsibility, pride, and purpose in being part of something bigger than themselves.

Whether it’s helping hurricane victims, donating to local animal shelters, or raising money to build a well in Uganda, every act of service is rooted in compassion, faith, and real understanding.

We don’t want our students to simply give—we want them to care deeply and know why it matters. Because when they do, service becomes more than a project.
It becomes part of who they are.
