Multicultural Day
Multicultural Day at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School
Multicultural Day is one of the most exciting and meaningful days of the year at Our Lady of Lourdes! While the celebration happens on one special day, the learning and preparation stretch across an entire week. During that time, students dive into the rich cultures, customs, and traditions of countries around the world—discovering what makes each one unique and how our shared Catholic faith connects us all.
The day begins with a beautiful school-wide prayer service. Each class presents a rose to Mother Mary, symbolizing unity, peace, and love across nations. From there, the adventure begins!
Every classroom is transformed into a different country, complete with decorations, traditional food, music, crafts, and hands-on activities. Students dress in outfits representing the country they’ve studied and carry “passports” to be stamped as they travel from room to room, exploring new cultures. Along the way, they complete a fun scavenger hunt that helps them learn interesting facts about each place they visit.
It’s a day filled with color, flavor, and joy—but it’s more than just fun. Multicultural Day leaves a lasting impact, reminding students that while we may come from different places and traditions, we are all part of the same human family. It’s a beautiful celebration of how we are different, how we are the same, and how we can make the world better together.
