National Junior Honor Society

Student Life

What is the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)?

The National Junior Honor Society is a prestigious organization that recognizes middle school students who exemplify excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Membership is both an honor and a responsibility, as students commit to maintaining high academic standards while also giving back to their community.

NJHS is more than an academic recognition program—it’s a commitment to service and leadership. Members have the opportunity to develop their talents, contribute to meaningful service projects, and grow as young leaders within our Catholic community. The values of faith, service, and leadership align perfectly with our school’s mission, making NJHS an important part of student life at Our Lady of Lourdes.

How Are Students Selected?

Students are invited to apply for NJHS based on their academic achievement and character. A faculty council carefully reviews each applicant’s scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship before making final selections.

Induction Ceremony

Each year, selected students are formally inducted into NJHS during a special ceremony held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. This is a meaningful event where students take their official pledge to uphold the NJHS values. Attendance at the induction ceremony is required to become a member.

Membership Fees & What’s Included

There is a one-time membership fee of $65.00.

Service Requirements

As part of their commitment to NJHS, all members must complete a service project during the school year. This project should reflect NJHS’s core values and make a meaningful impact in the community.
